  • AudibleAudible, Inc.. Standard $8.99 a month (listen while subscribed). Premium $14.95 a month (one audiobook a month to keep), or Premium Annual from $149.50 a year for 12 audiobooks. Prices on audible.com after a 30-day trial. The App Store lists different in-app prices, such as $9.99 for the Standard Plan and $15.99 for Premium Monthly.

  • BooklyTwoDoor Games. Free to start. Bookly Pro is listed at $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year, among many other Pro prices on the App Store.

  • EpicEpic Creations, Inc.. Epic Family is a paid subscription with a 7-day free trial. The App Store lists several monthly prices, from $4.99 to $13.99. Epic School is free for educators and students during the school day.
  • EverandScribd. Standard $11.99 a month for 1 title a month. Plus $16.99 a month for 3 titles. Deluxe $28.99 a month for 5 titles, bought on its website.

  • FableFable. Free core app. Fable Plus is $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year.

  • GoodreadsGoodreads. Free, with no in-app purchases on the App Store.

  • HardcoverHardcover LLC. Free core app. Supporter is $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year.
  • HooplaMidwest Tape, LLC. Free with a library card from a participating public library. Titles, formats and monthly borrowing limits vary by library.

  • Kindle appAmazon. Free app. Buy books one at a time, or borrow with Kindle+ (renamed from Kindle Unlimited in October 2026) for $11.99 a month plus tax.
  • Kindle Story So FarAmazon. No separate charge described. It works on eligible Kindle ebooks you have bought or borrowed.
  • Kobo Books & AudiobooksRakuten Kobo Inc.. Free app. Buy ebooks and audiobooks one at a time.
  • Kobo PlusRakuten Kobo Inc.. Kobo Plus Read $7.99 a month, Kobo Plus Listen $7.99 a month, Kobo Plus Read & Listen $9.99 a month (US), after a 14-day free trial.

  • SpeechifySpeechify Inc.. Free to download. Premium is sold as a subscription; the App Store lists in-app prices such as $11.99 and $24.99 a month and $139.99 a year.
  • Spotify audiobooksSpotify. Select Premium plans include 15 hours of audiobook listening a month. Audiobooks Access costs $9.99 a month for 15 hours, with music on the free, ad-supported tier.

  • The StoryGraphThe StoryGraph. Free core app. StoryGraph Plus is $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year.
  • Thus FarKrager Labs LLC. A subscription, monthly or annual, with a one-month free trial for eligible new subscribers. The same subscription hosts book clubs and brings three friends in free. The App Store lists many Hosts+ prices, from $9.99 to $29.99 a month and $49.99 to $199.00 a year.
